As a Licensed Social worker, I help kids find their voice, teens feel understood, and young adults navigate what comes next. Hi, I’m Aleiya Collins and together we can work to make sense of big emotions, difficult experiences, relationships, or changes in your life. I believe therapy should feel like a place where you can take a breath, be yourself, and not have to explain or defend everything you’re feeling.
My work with children is especially meaningful to me. Children and youth do not always have the verbal communication to say, “I’m overwhelmed,” “I’m scared,” or “Something doesn’t feel right.” Sometimes those feelings show up through behavior, play, withdrawal, frustration, or difficulty connecting with others. Rather than expecting a child to sit down and simply talk, I use play, creativity, conversation, and other expressive approaches to help children communicate in ways that feel natural to them. Therapy can be a place where they can explore what is happening beneath the behavior, learn to understand their emotions, and develop skills they can carry with them outside of the therapy room.
As life and development progress into the teenage years and adulthood, we will work together towards WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?. Whether we are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationships, self-esteem, emotional or behavioral challenges, or a major life transition, I want therapy to feel collaborative. Together, we can make sense of what you are experiencing, identify what is getting in the way, and build practical tools for moving forward.
I meet each person where they are and draw from different therapeutic strategies based on their personality, developmental stage, needs, and goals. I want clients to leave therapy not only feeling understood, but also with a better understanding of themselves and the skills to navigate what comes next.
It is a privilege to walk alongside individuals and families during life's most vulnerable moments, and I hope each person leaves sessions feeling empowered, supported, and confident in their ability to heal and grow.
